Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani Recommended Air Marshal Tahir Rafiq Butt to being the new Chief Of Pakistan Air Force to President Asif Ali Zardari. According to reports this is the mutual decision of PM Gilani and COAS Kayani who met earlier that day. Five Air Chiefs were in the race to becoming Chief Of Air Force.
Air Marshal Tahir Rafiq Butt will replace Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman who is set to retire on 18th March 2012, One of the Major achievements of Air Chief Rao Qamar Suleman was the JF-17 fighter aircraft which was made in co-ordination of China. Air Chief did not wanted any extension due to his age and wanted retirement for his personal reasons.He joined Air Force On 6th March 1977 as a GD pilot
