The Chief of the Army staff was one the first people who went to the booth and the public will was sanctified by the stamp of armed forces. The military soldiers, militia men, rangers and policemen were there to provide protection and maintain the law and order. After years of unrest, the people developed confidence and faith over the security forces.

People came in large number and made their historical decision. The political parties were judged according to their performance and service which they rendered. People quietly rejected the nepotism, corruption and prejudice. People were quiet but their opinion was expressed.

The PPP’s performance had its dividends ultimately paid back. People cannot be enticed to respect the graves of old days. Blame game does not work and era of glamour and hero worship is over. Two successive prime ministers and their relatives were all defeated badly, in spite of their large scale spending of public money in their constituencies. All their prominent figures lost the election, except in the interior Sind. From their seat of power in the province of Sind, they have prove their worth. Charity income schemes and personal briberies have little impact. Ground work, dedication and proper planning is required. Honesty and safeguard of public interest is required. The followers of Zulfiqar Ali Buttu and Mohaterema Benazir Bhuttu may have an appeal for the nation, which needs a clear vision and decisive ability. The days of Charisma and dynastic rule are over. Cards of South Punjab and pressure tactics have not worked. I wish that they learn from their shortcomings and prepare for the future in a better way.

The MQM has its unchallenged share, as expected and is not willing to enter in a dialogue. Their actions and strategy was unchanged and they got the mandate. There is no room for discussion and one cannot express his feelings about what happened. Well the mandate, if approved by the Election Commission is to be respected and taken as final. During the recent past, they have shown more flexibility and they have spread their sphere of influence far beyond Karachi. Karachi is very dear to all of us. I have my home there and it is mini Pakistan. It is cosmopolitan city. Iqbal had predicted about its metropolitan status in the future in his 1930 Allahabad speech. Karachi is with the MQM and MQM must save it from all impending dangers. Others who differ from the point of view of MQM, should be accommodated and cared for. Our economy, trade and access to deep sea depends upon peace in Karachi

Maulana Fazl ur Rahman is trying to make best use if the situation, the way he has inherited from his late father but lacks the strength of Mufti Mamud, who was a great person. Maulana Fazl ur Raham has preserved his vote bank in Dera Ismaiel Khan, Bannu and some other areas of KP, with sporadic appearance in Pushtun areas of Baluchistan as well as some remote regions of other two provinces. His part JUIF was also a victim of suicidal bombimng. Maulana Fazl ur Rahman is an alert, cunning and thoughtful politician and has been successful in increasing his following. His party has governed the KP but as I myself had lived in Peshawar, in those days, the situation was not that ideal apart from better law and order situation.

Jamaat e Islami has what it had in the past and is there where it was in 1970; today even worse than that. Its intellectual basis is respected, its ideology and enthusiasm as well as send=se of service for humanity is commendable, yet the political approach is to be reviewed. Islam is not a controversial issue in Pakistan and the people want to practice Islam by themselves and as and when they are told to do so, they are offended. That has led to their alienation to the Jamaat, despite its good record of efforts and existence and their performance in running the city government in Karachi, when Mr. Nimat Ullah Khan was the Mayor of the city.

The regional and nationalist parties are no more seen and only those like PKMAP survived which are in the great national scene. I wish that Baluch faction would have been in the race and got the seats. The nation should welcome their comeback. Baluchistan need special attention and we must love its great people and bring them back to the mainstream with dialogue and affection. The regional parties of Baluchistan have joined the national race for democracy. They feel deprived and they are right in that feeling. They have to be integrated in the politics and given a chance to run their affairs and make benefit of their local resources, while remaining in a federal framework of power. The nation ahs to bring the remote corners of that vast province in par with other regions of the country and they need development. They must be reminded that the development and progress comes in a peaceful atmosphere. There are many external forces working there to destabilize the region, which should be looked after properly, while taking the Baluch population in confidence.

Mian brothers had a benefit of their performance during their rule and the way they run the business. It may not be ideal but acceptable for many people in Pakistan. they do something on the ground and their actions are visible on the face of the earth, not only in figures and statistics. They are originally Kashmiris, settled in the Punjab since 1880s. They are liked by the people around them. They are not ethnically Punjabis, which they are being wrongly projected. They have a tough time ahead and show by their action. Economy, law and order, foreign policy and job situation is alarming. They have to repay the nation, the way they have been trusted. They have to take all the nation, ethnicity, groups and regions with them. All the country, irrespective of creed, caste and language has to be looked after equally. They have  prove by action and activity. The nation has voted against the corruption and they have to govern with honesty and neutrality.

Other politicians have to work hard. The PTI did well but they are new comers and it takes decades to mature. It was for the first time that they have sailed their boat in the deep waters of the politics. They are sincere to their cause and want a quick change but the people are mostly cautious. They have yet to go a long way and prove their ability for good governance, national reconciliation and harmony and management of day to day situation. Elite class is with them but the masses of urban centers are moving with them with utmost care. They have made their way in the KP and Pashtun people have shown their trust. I have found the Pashtuns as forward looking, progressive and politically motivated people, who are do not necessarily maintain the status qu. From the provincial leadership of the PTI in the KP region, political experience, proper use of parliamentary language, gradual change and self discipline is required. One must be well composed, respectful to others and having a clear plan for the future. PTI members should not allow their tongue to slip, be well composed and use dignified phrases and work for national consensus from the seat of their power, which for the time being is Peshawar. One day their influence will extend to the other regions, too. Do not loose hearts. I hope that they will learn the rules of business and make their way in the future national life. I hope that time will teach you people the secrets. You people did well in emotional scenario of KP and stirred the masses. You have a mandate of Pashtuns and they make a quarter of populating of Karachi. You may take them on board and that may be your real asset for a change in future.

The time has proven that the Ballet matters in the end and the nation is a democratic nation. The bullet and or keys have no role. Democracy is to be respected. Opinion of others has to be accommodated and a dialogue and discussion is the need of the day. Those who think that by bomb blasts and ambushes, they can change the tide of time are seriously mistaken. Brain and tongue have more power than muscles. It is the opinion which matters. We have to live in a global village with dignity and honor, while maintaining our traditions and safeguarding our values. Blind undeclared wars, sectarianism, massacre and misinterpretation of Islam must be avoided. Islam is a religion of peace and its system is based on consultations and dialogue.

Larger interests of a nation and not a particular group have to be secured.
