Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, it is unlikely that Pakistan this year, despite a longstanding invitation and a personal enthusiasm on their part. Top government sources told NDTV the possibility of a visit is now very dark.
Sources say the decision is partly due to political instability in Pakistan, but largely because Pakistan has not done anything concrete in 26/11 and other topics. This includes agreement on the visa was canceled at the last minute by Pakistan in May.
This week, a court in Rawalpindi, also rejected as “illegal”, the findings of a judicial commission that traveled to India to investigate attacks of 26/11. This led to the growing exasperation of the government here, and a growing sense that Dr Singh will not be able to justify a visit to Pakistan politically unless there is a breakthrough in the coming months.
, had extended an invitation to the new Prime Minister Singh, in April this year when he came to Delhi.
The Prime Minister said he would if there was anything of substance to show, is still very unlikely that from now on.
